Hello crafty people, I hope you are all in fine fettle and had a good week? Everything has been fine here, nothing out of the ordinary to report – although I do have a slight confession to make. Would you believe it, but I have never made a shaker card! Not before the one above that I made yesterday!!! I’m not sure why I haven’t, but since I started blogging I’ve noticed that there’s a lot of them out there in blogland! To be fair – I don’t know what I’ve been playing around at for the past nearly 6 years of crafting not to have at least attempted one! (The title of this blog post? I can’t say shaker card without singing that ‘classic’ from Outkast – ‘Hey Yah’!!!) Anyway, having seen so many brilliant examples I thought I’d give it a go. I was reading a blog post by Lucy Abrams (www.lucys-cards.com) last week, where she revealed that she had designed a range of shaker dies for Clearly Besotted. Great place to start I thought so off I popped to ‘guide’ a few into my basket!! (This was after promising myself that I wasn’t going to spend any more money on craft for a month or so – yeah, like that so ever going to happen!) Unfortunately for me there was only 1 left in stock – the rest had sold out! I think this was only a day after release so that was brilliant on their part – and well done to Lucy, not so good for me! But don’t worry – I’m on the ‘notify me when back in stock’ thingy so hopefully it won’t be too long before they are available again 🙂 I was really pleased to get the ‘Yay’ die though – this could be used for loads of different occasions. Another first for me recently has been the allure of sequins! Up until a few blog posts back I hadn’t used sequins in my cardmaking. These are another fab embellishment that hadn’t entered my little crafty world until, again I saw how they are used on other blogs. So obviously, had to get myself some lovely little sparkles!! So here is my card for this week – my first shaker card – and it won’t be the last! I enjoyed making it and I was quite pleased with the result. I did use Funky Foam on top on the ‘Yay’ to make it more dimensional, but you really don’t need to. Thank you for stopping by, have a great week and take care – Karen 🙂
I used:MME Kate & Co ‘Oxford Lane’ cardstock, Clearly Besotted stamps, ‘Yay’ shaker die, funky foam. acetate, sequins, Memento Nautical Blue inkpad and a WRMK Corner Chomper.
What a FUN shaker birthday card! Love all the pretty sequins polka dots, and YAY sentiment! Glad you had a great time making this wonderful shaker card!:-)
